Precast concrete / installation documentation

Precast Erection Drawings & Placement Plans

Accurate precast erection documentation connects factory-produced pieces with their intended location in the completed structure. Structural Drafting India supports precast manufacturers, detailers, consultants and contractors with coordinated erection plans, elevations, member marking and connection references.

Drawing services

Coordinated precast erection drawing scope

Each drawing package is developed from client-approved engineering information and current precast production documents, with scope tailored to the building type and precast system.

Precast Member Placement Plans

Plan-view element locations with grid references, identification marks, orientation and installation coordination for columns, beams, walls and slabs.

Panel Elevations & Sections

Elevation and section drawings showing panels, joints, openings, edge conditions, bearing lines and dimensional references from approved documents.

Beam, Column & Double Tee Layouts

Coordinated floor and roof layouts for structural precast framing, including member marks, support locations and interface references.

Connection & Bearing Details

References to approved plates, dowels, bearing pads, grout joints, inserts and connection assemblies with clear location callouts.

Embed, Insert & Hardware Plans

Placement documentation for cast-in plates, ferrules, anchors, fixings and associated hardware schedules tied to relevant element drawings.

Erection Marking & Revision Coordination

Cross-checking piece IDs, material references and updated shop tickets against the erection sheets, with documented revisions and open coordination questions.

Drawing package

Typical precast erection deliverables

Deliverables can be supplied as coordinated drawing packages appropriate to the contract scope and established project CAD/BIM standards.

Drawing coordination

A controlled workflow from source drawings to erection-ready documentation

Review source information

Review the latest contract drawings, member schedules, approved details, grids and outstanding information gaps.

Build placement drawings

Develop marking plans, elevations, component locations, associated references and drawing indexes.

Coordinate and revise

Compare marks and interfaces with shop tickets and incorporate reviewed comments, queries and revisions.

Issue for client approval

Provide controlled issue files for the responsible project team's review and release process.

Engineering responsibility

Installation documentation is not a substitute for erection engineering

Erection plans show intended locations and references, but they do not independently establish the safety of lifting, temporary bracing, connection capacity or construction sequencing.

The responsible structural engineer, precast engineer, erection engineer and contractor must review and authorize the designs and site procedures allocated to them. Crane selection, rigging, lift studies, stability during erection, temporary bracing and final connection approval remain subject to project-specific engineering and field controls.

Frequently asked questions

Precast erection drawing FAQs

What is included in precast erection drawings?

Typical documents include member location plans, elevations, piece marks, orientation and placement information, connection references, embed locations and coordinated sections based on the approved design.

How are precast member marks coordinated?

Element IDs are coordinated among shop tickets, schedules and erection plans so the fabrication and erection teams can reference the same specified member. Final identification conventions follow the project requirements.

Do erection drawings include temporary bracing or lifting design?

Lifting points and temporary support requirements may be shown when supplied by the responsible designer. Engineering of lifting, bracing, stability and installation sequence requires separately assigned competent engineering review and authorization.

Which source files are useful to start?

Current approved structural and architectural drawings, panel and member shop drawings, embed and connection information, grid and level references, relevant BIM/CAD models and the client drawing standards are useful inputs.
